Research and organizing as process

Support from the Emily Hall Tremaine Exhibition Award afforded us two years of dedicated research on the Museum of Capitalism project before its inaugural Oakland exhibition, which allowed us to engage in meaningful conversations with artists about complex reframings and adaptations of existing works, commissioning of new projects, and co-organizing of related events. Inviting many artists to work closely with us at the same time and holding social events as part of the process encouraged relationships to form between them, which we are proud to see outlasting temporary exhibitions.
